THE ENTRY
Live Aid took place on July 13, 1985, with primary concerts at Wembley Stadium in London and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia. Organized to raise relief funds for famine in Ethiopia, the production joined live music with a vast international television audience.
WHY IT MATTERED
Live Aid showed the scale possible when concerts, satellite distribution, celebrity, charity, and live broadcasting were designed as one global media event.
